Michael Simpson is part of the group exhibition Tightrope Walk: Painted Images After Abstraction at White Cube, Bermondsey opening on Tuesday November 24th through January 24 2016. The exhibition is curated by Barry Schwabsky and brings together paintings by close to fifty artists in an effort to illuminate how the act of making a representational painting became redefined over the past century, following the emergence of abstraction as a competing proposition.

Le miroir vivant (1928) by René Magritte, is part of a small series of word paintings that the Belgian artist made in the early years of his career. In close dialogue with curator Francesco Stocchi, American artist Alex Da Corte has taken Le miroir vivant’s provocation as a starting point to create an immersive tableau utilizing the Boijman’s collection as raw material: nearly fifty paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos by artists such as Cady Noland, Marcel Broodthaers, Jim Shaw, Gilbert and George, Alexandra Bircken, Carel Visser, Domenico Gnoli, Barbara Hepworth, Duane Hanson, David Hockney, among others.
The exhibition opens on Friday 9th of October 2015 through January 17th 2016.
James Hyde is presenting more than 40 works at Volume Gallery and Paris London Hong Kong Gallery from Sep 12 through Oct 17 2015. The shows will consist of paintings, chairs and lamps as well as non-functional design objects. The emphasis is on recent work, but will also include work from over the past two decades.

Charlie Roberts has collaborated with Danish fashion brand SOULLAND on their new spring/summer collection 2016. The collection was presented in London in June 2015 with a new 11 x 4 meter large painting by Roberts as the backdrop of the presentation. In this film Roberts talks about his work as the painting develops.

We are delighted to announce that UP Projects, working in partnership with Lewisham Council and The British Arts Council, will unveil a new permanent sculpture “Turning Tree” by Henry Krokatsis, in Ladywell Fields.
Krokatsis has taken a section of a Black Poplar tree, felled in the park by a storm in 2014 and cast the trunk in polished aluminium.
